Music Mondays
Music Mondays has served as a launching pad for emerging talent and celebration of established local talent since its inception in 1992. This summer lunchtime concert series often finds a full house enjoying the gifts of musicians from Toronto and abroad. Our goal is to provide the highest possible musical experience to a pay-what-you-can downtown audience. Our audience includes office workers, tourists, retired folks, young children, street involved folks, students and the musically curious.
Concerts and Exhibitions
From time to time we host concerts, recording sessions and art exhibitions. Our Panter’s Pub concerts ran from 2015-2017, We have had exhibitions by Jacqueline Treloar, and Oliver Roberts, and hosted Treaty Canoe in 2017.
The Christmas Story
In 1937 Patricia Frank, wife of the rector, John Frank, began producing The Christmas Story from a script used at her former home parish of St. Martin’s in the Fields, London. It is still being performed here annually some 80 years later.
Our production is a traditional nativity pageant in which a series of mimed scenes are accompanied by narration, organ music and carols from an unseen choir. It is put on by a mix of professionals and volunteers.
Close to 100 people participate in the crew or one of two alternating casts. Ages range from 2 weeks old (baby Jesus), to people in their seventies. Approximately one-third are HT parishioners. Christmas Story is the major ministry for, and involving, children at HT.
Performances run over three weekends in December. Around 3,000 people attend a performance, many returning year after year. Some people have been coming annually for 40 or 50 years.
Christmas Story also prides itself on its accessibility. We have included sign language interpretation, are wheelchair accessible and have hearing assistive devices.
A Holy Trinity Clergy member often gives the opening welcome to the audience and is part of the CS committee. They are also most welcome to play an on-stage role.
In response to the demands of COVID, the Christmas Story transitioned to a video format, featuring the encampment surrounding the church and Mary taking shelter in a tent.
